endothelio- +

(Greek > Latin: layer of simple cells lining the inner surface of the circulatory organs)

angioendothelioma
Now known as hemangioendothelioma or a true neoplasm of vascular origin, characterized by proliferation of endothelial cells in and about the vascular lumen; it is usually considered to be intermediate in grade between hemangioma and hemangiosarcoma.
angioendotheliomatosis
The presence of malignant tumors of vascular origin occurring most frequently on the face and scalp of elderly men.
angioreticuloendothelioma
A multicentric, malignant neoplastic vascular proliferation characterized by bluish-red cutaneous nodules, usually on the legs, toes, or feet, that slowly increase in size and number and spread to more proximal sites.

The tumors have endothelium-lined channels and vascular spaces mixed with aggregates of spindle-shaped cells; they may remain confined to skin and subcutaneous tissue, but widespread visceral involvement may occur.

Kaposi's sarcoma is endemic in certain parts of Central Africa and Central and Eastern Europe, and a virulent and disseminated form occurs in immunocompromised patients.

endothelioid
Resembling endothelium or the layer of epithelial cells that lines the cavities of the heart and of the blood and lymph vessels and the serous cavities of the body, originating from the mesoderm.

The mesoderm is the middle of the three germ layers or the layers of cells comprising the early embryo; which gives rise to the musculoskeletal, blood, vascular and urinogenital systems, to connective tissue (including that of dermis) and contributes to some glands.

endothelioma
1. A tumor of the cells that line internal body surfaces.
2. A tumor (usually benign) which is formed from tissues of the endothelium (layer of epithelial cells that lines the cavities of the heart and of the blood and lymph vessels and the serous cavities of the body).
endotheliosis
Proliferation of endothelium.
endotheliotoxin
A specific toxin that acts on the endothelium of capillaries and small veins, producing hemorrhage.
endothelium
The layer of epithelial cells that lines the cavities of the heart, the lumina of blood and lymph vessels, and the serous cavities of the body; it originates from the mesoderm.
hemangeoendotheliosarcoma
A rare malignant tumor of vascular origin, formed by proliferation of endothelial tissue lining irregular vascular channels; it usually occurs in the skin, soft tissues, breast, or liver
hemangioendothelioblastoma
A hemangioendothelioma with embryonic elements of mesenchymal origin.
hemangioendothelioma
A true neoplasm of vascular origin, characterized by proliferation of endothelial cells in and about the vascular lumen; it is usually considered to be intermediate in grade between the hemangioma and the hemangiosarcoma but sometimes is used to denote the latter.
