This prefix is used in the metric [decimal] system as, one-hundredth [U.S.] and hundredth [U.K.], and denotes 1/100th of a unit or 10-2 [0.01]. The metric symbol for centi- is c.

1. A unit of weight in the U.S. Customary System equal to 100 pounds (45.36 kilograms); also called "short hundredweight".
2. A unit of weight in the British Imperial System equal to 112 pounds (50.80 kilograms).

An are is a metric unit of area equal to 100 square meters (119.6 square yards).
