(Greek: slow, slowness; delayed, tardy; a prefix used in the sense of being "abnormally slow")


bradytachycardia
Alternating attacks of bradycardia and tachycardia, as may occur in sick sinus syndrome.
bradyteleocinesis, bradyteleokinesia, bradyteleokinesis
1. A dyskinesia in which a movement is slowed or stopped prior to reaching its goal.
2. A disorder of movement, sometimes seen in cerebellar dysfunction, but not pathognomonic, in which a particular movement is arrested suddenly and unexpectedly and then, after a pause, the movement is completed in a slow jerky manner.
bradytelic, bradytely
1. A significantly slow rate of evolutionary change for a given species within a group of related species.
2. Evolving at a slower than normal rate over long geologic periods, with slow speciation.
bradytherapy
In medicine, a form of radiotherapy in which the agent used is close to, on the surface of, or implanted in the body.
bradytocia, bradytokia
1. Lingering or slow parturition (childbirth).
2. Slow delivery of a fetus.
3. Prolonged labor and slow delivery of a fetus or baby.
bradytrophia
1. A condition characterized by slow-acting nutritive processes.
2. Retarded growth and slow metabolic rate, as shown by hypothyroid children and those suffering from protein-calorie malnutrition.
bradytrophic
1. Having slow-acting nutritive processes.
2. Causing decreased activity in living organisms.
bradyuria
Abnormally slow passage of urine.
bradyzoite
1. A slowly multiplying encysted form of sporozoan parasite typical of chronic infection.
2. An asexual stage, in which tissue cysts are formed, int the development of certain coccidian parasites (a subclass of sporozoa commonly parasitic in epithelial cells of the intestinal tract, but also found in the liver and other organs).
cardiomuscular bradycardia
A slow heart rate that results from a heart disease.
central bradycardia
Slow heart rate due to disease of the central nervous system, particularly that which is associated with increased intracranial pressure.
essential bradycardia
A slow heart beat in the absence of any pathological explanation.
