(Greek: slow, slowness; delayed, tardy; a prefix used in the sense of being "abnormally slow")


bradyglossia
Slowness of speech due to the impaired mobility of the tongue, which may be due to local tongue or mouth pathology (disease) or to more distant neural lesions.
bradykinesia
Slowed ability to start and to continue movements, and the impaired ability to adjust the body's position.

This can be a symptom of neurological disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease, or a side effect of medications.

bradykinesis
Abnormal slowness of voluntary movement.
bradykinetic
1. Characterized by or performed by slow movement.
2. Denoting a method of showing the details of motor action by motion pictures taken very rapidly and shown very slowly.
bradykinin
1. A chemical peptide produced in the blood when tissues are injured that plays a role in inflammation.
2. A biologically active polypeptide, consisting of nine amino acids, that forms from a blood plasma globulin and mediates the inflammatory response, increases vasodilation, and causes contraction of smooth muscle.
3. A substance derived from plasma proteins which plays an important role in any of the reactions of the body, including inflammation.

Its primary action is in producing dilatation of the arteries and veins. It has also been described as "the most powerful pain-producing agent known".

bradylalia
1. Abnormally slow utterance of words due to a brain lesion or mental disorder; also bradyarthria, bradyphasia, and bradyphrasia.
2. Abnormal slowness or deliberation in speech.

It may be occasioned by organic or psychological pathology or both and is common in depressed conditions.

bradylexia
An abnormal slowness in reading.
bradylogia
Abnormal slowness in reading, due neither to defect of intelligence nor of vision nor to ignorance of the alphabet.

It may be one manifestation of psychomotor retardation in depressive states.

bradylogia
An abnormal slowness or deliberation in speech.
bradymenorrhea
A slow or prolonged menstrual flow.
bradypepsia
Slowness of digestion.
bradypeptic
1. Characterized by slow digestion.
2. A reference to an abnormal slowness of digestion.
bradyphagia
1. Abnormal slowness when eating.
2. Slowness in swallowing due to an organic impediment.
bradyphagy
An abnormal slowness when eating.
bradyphasia
1. Slowness of speech due to slow conceptualization of the thoughts that the patient wishes to express.
2. A form of aphasia characterized by abnormal slowness of speech.
