Having six pistils.
hologynic
Related to characteristics manifest only in females.
hypergynecosmia
Over development of secondary sex characteristics of the mature female or their precocious development in a young girl.
hypogynous, hypogyny
Situated below the pistils or ovary; said of the stamens of a flower when these grow on the receptacle and are not united to any other organ; also of plants having the stamens so placed.
isogynous
Having pistils or carpels equal in number to the parts of the perianth.
macrogyne
A giant female ant or termite.
microgyne
A dwarf queen ant.
misogyny, misogynic, misogynous, misogynism
1. A hatred of or aversion to women.
2. In psychiatry, when the hatred of women is part of a morbid mental state, it may be associated with a wide variety of nosologic entities. The most common explanation for the condition has to do with the events of childhood, particularly those relating to the parents.
3. In psychiatry, abhorrence of women that is expressed alike by women and men and is often a reflection of a homosexual conflict.
4. In psychiatry, passive homosexual males may hold women in severe contempt, as a reaction to disappointment with their own masculinity.
monogynous
1. In botany, having only one pistil, style, or stigma; belonging to the order Monogynia.
2. Pertaining to asexual reproduction or asexually reproducing organisms.
3. The condition of having a single fertile female as in the colony of many social insects or, in higher forms, having only one female sexual partner.
monogyny
1. The mating of a male with only one female.
2. The presence of a single queen in a colony of social insects.
3. Producting only male or only female offspring.
octogynous
In botany, having eight pistils.
oligogyny, oligogynous
1. The mating of a single male with a few females.
2. The presence of a few queens within a single colony of social insects.
pentagynous
In botany, having five pistils.
perigyny, perigynous
1. Situated around the pistil or ovary: said of the stamens when growing upon some part surrounding the ovary (either the calyx, or the corolla, or the edge of the hollowed receptacle); also said of a flower in which the stamens are so placed.
2. Having sepals, petals, and stamens around the edge of a cuplike receptacle containing the ovary, as in flowers of the rose or cherry.
3. Of or being perigynous flower parts; such as, stamens, petals, etc., so arranged.
4. Anything surrounding a female reproductive organ.
5. Opposites of epigynous and hypogynous.
philogynist
One who has a special love or fondness for women.
