Cartilage in abnormal places.

A disturbance in the development of the cartilage primordia of the long bones, especially the region of the epiphysial plates, resulting in arrested growth of the long bones and dwarfism in which the extremities are abnormally short, but the head and trunk are essentially normal; autosomal recessive inheritance. Synonym: chondrodysplasia.

Fatigue of or difficulty in moving a group of muscles used in working.

If disproportionate to the amount of work done, it is called occupational neurosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, or writer's cramp.

A wasting of the fingers, which is seen in certain collagen diseases; such as, scleroderma (a disease in which the skin becomes progressively hard and thickened).

An impaired ability of the iris of the eye to accommodate to varying intensities of light.

1. Difficult and defective speech due to impairment of the tongue or other muscles essential to speech while mental function is intact.
2. Inability to speak in which there is no defect in the ability to understand and, if literate, to read or write.
3. Difficulty in articulation; partial impairment of articulatory speech because of a problem in the central nervous system.

1. Joint malformation or deformity.
2. The development of a joint where none is normally present.

Difficulty in hearing.

1. Dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system.
2. A rare hereditary disease involving the autonomic nervous system and characterized by mental retardation, motor inco-ordination, vomiting, frequent infections, and convulsions.

A condition associated with exposure to very low or rapidly changing atmospheric pressure.

Symptoms include pain in or near joints, giddiness, headache, numbness of limbs, chest pain, and shortness of breath. When it occurs in a severe form, it is sometimes called “decompression sickness” or “the bends”.
