(Greek: feeling, sensation, perception; suffering, disease, disorder; a system of treatment of disease)

In medicine, some of these elements usually mean “one who suffers from a disease of, or one who treats a disease”; so, they should not be confused with the “feeling” words which are also shown on these pages.


craniopathy
1. Any pathological condition of the cranial bones.
2. Any diffuse abnormality of the skull; especially one related to metabolic (change in body form) disease.
cryopathy
A morbid condition in which exposure to cold is an important factor. Also frigorism.
cyanopathy
Bluish discoloration of the skin caused by the lack of oxygen in the bloodstream.
cytopathogenesis
The production of pathologic (disease) changes in cells.
cytopathogenetic
Relating to, or producing pathological changes in cells.
cytopathogenic
Relating to an agent, or substance, that causes a diseased condition in cells, in contrast to histologic changes (microscopic anatomy, as opposed to gross anatomy which involves structures that can be observed with the naked eye); used especially with reference to the effects observed in cells in tissue cultures.
cytopathologists
A physician, usually skilled in anatomical pathology, who is especially trained and experienced in cytopathology or disease changes within individual cells or cell types.
cytopathology
1. The study of disease changes within individual cells or cell types.
2. The set of features, or conditions, associated with a diseased cell or cells.
cytopathy
1. Any disorder of a cell.
2. The branch of pathology that studies the effects of disease on the cellular level.
demonopathy
A mental disease in which the patient fancies himself/herself, or acts as if, he/she is possessed by a demon.
dermatopathy, dermatopathic, dermatopathology
Any disease of the skin.
dermopathy, dermopathic
Any skin disorder.
dermosyphilopathy
1. Cutaneous lesions of syphilis.
2. Any syphilid (skin lesions of secondary syphilis).
desmopathology
1. The study of diseases that affect the ligaments or tendons.
2. The study of abnormalities of ligaments.
desmopathy
Any disease affecting the ligaments.
