In medicine, some of these elements usually mean “one who suffers from a disease of, or one who treats a disease”; so, they should not be confused with the “feeling” words which are also shown on these pages.
rachiopathy
1. Any disease or disorder of the spine.
2. Any disorder of the vertebrae.
radiculomyelopathy
Disease of the spinal cord and spinal nerve roots. Also known as myeloradiculopathy.
radiculoneuropathy
Disease of the spinal nerve roots and nerves.
radiculopathy
Disease of spinal nerve roots.
renopathy
A rarely used term for nephropathy, a disease of the kidneys.
retinopathy
1. Any disease of the retina.
2. A noninflammatory degenerative disease of the retina.
rhinopathy, rhinopathia
Any disease of the nose.
sociopathic
A reference to antisocial behavior or to antisocial personality disorders.
somatopathy
Any disease of the body.
somnipathy
1. Sleep from sympathy (a reference to the influence exerted by one individual upon another, or received by one from another, and the effects thus produced, as seen in hypnotism, and in yawning) or by the process of mesmerism.
2. A state of sleep induced by hypnosis or mesmerism.
3. Disturbance of sleep; any disorder of sleep.
spermatopathy
Any disease of the semen or spermatozoa.
splanchnopathy
Any disease process of the abdominal viscera.
splenopathy
Any disease of the spleen.
spondylopathy
Any disease of the vertebrae or spinal column.
stereopathy
Persistent stereotyped thinking (maintenance of one attitude for a long time; constant repetition of certain meaningless gestures or movements, as in certain forms of schizophrenia).
