leukophobia
An extreme dread of the color white. For some, paleness may represent ill health or even ghosts to those who fear the supernatural.
levophobia
An excessive horror of objects on the left side of the body.
ligyrophobia
A dread of sharp or loud noises.
lilapsophobia
An exaggerated terror of tornadoes or hurricanes.
limnophobia
An extreme apprehension of marshes, of marshy lakes, or lakes in general.
linonophobia
An exaggerated concern regarding string.
lipophobia
An excessive apprehension of being fat.
litigaphobia
An abnormal anxiety about litigation or lawsuits.
logophobia
An abnormal anxiety about words or certain kinds of words or specific words.
luiphobia
An exaggerated horror of having lues, which is a synonym for syphilis. Lues is derived from the Latin word for “infection” or “plague”.
lygophobia
1. An excessive fear, or panic, about being in dark places or of darkness in general.
2. An abnormal dislike of gloomy or shadowy situations.

Fears of darkness are associated with feelings of uncertainty, helplessness, and the inability to see what one is doing; as well as, a sense of unfamiliarity because things appear differently in the dark. This could also include a lack of confidence about being in certain situations.

lyophobia
In chemistry, having little attraction between particles and the medium of dispersion: said of colloidal material. Colloids are solids, liquids, or gaseous substances that exist in all living matter.
lyssiophobia, lyssophobia, lissophobia
1. An intense terror of becoming mad, insane, or of having a nervous breakdown.
2. An irrational fear of rabies or a fear of catching rabies.
macrophobia
An abnormal dread of having to wait for long periods of time.
maieusiophobia
An intense apprehension about pregnancy or childbirth.
