misomathy

misomusist
A hater or active opponent to culture as expressed in writing by the German dramatist Hanns Johst in 1933.

It is assumed that Milan Kundera coined the word in Czech, which was then taken into English. The word comes from Greek misos, “hatred” and mousa, “learning” which is also the source of the name of the nine muses of Greek and Roman mythology who represented the arts and sciences.

1. A hatred of novelty or new things or new trends.
2. Hatred of innovation or change.

1. The avoidance of change and dislike of new subjects, events, and people.
2. A hater of novelty or new things.
misopater
A hatred of one’s father.
misopaterist
A hater of the Fathers of the Christian Church or one who hates his/her father.
misopatrist
A hatred for the Fathers of the Christian Church or for one’s own father.
misopedia
1. A morbid hatred of or aversion to children; sometimes including one's own.
2. In psychiatry, the hatred of children that may include the idea of incest with an unconscious viewing of the child as the consequence of incestuous relations.
misopedist
A hater of children which may include his/her own child or children.
misophobia
A fanatical dread of dirt, especially of being contaminated by dirt and related germs.
misopogonist, misopogonistic
A hatred of beards.
misopolemia
A hatred of war or strife.
misopolemiac
A hater of war or strife.
misopsychia, misozoeticus, misozoia
Hatred or weariness of living; a morbid disgust with life.
misoscopist
A person who hates to look at anything; a hater of beauty; a recluse.
