The goddess of rural leisure, to whom the husbandmen sacrificed at the close of the harvest. She was especially honored by the Sabines.
vacuolate, vacuolated
Formed into or containing one or more vacuoles or small membrane-bound cavities within a cell.
vacuolation, vacuolization
1. Formation into, or a multiplication of, vacuoles.
2. The state of having become filled with vacuoles.
3. The appearance or formation of drops of clear fluid in growing or ageing cells.
vacuole
1. A membrane-bound compartment or cavity within a cell containing watery fluid or secretion that is found in the cytoplasm of a cell.
2. A minute cavity or vesicle in organic tissue.
3. One of the spaces in cell cytoplasm containing air, water, sap, partially digested food, or other materials.
vacuoles
Any spaces or cavities within a cell.

They may function in digestion, storage, secretion, or excretion.

vacuometer
1. An instrument for the comparison of barometers.
2. An apparatus for the measurement of low pressures.
vacuous
1. Devoid of matter; empty; vacant, blank, void.
2. Lacking intelligence; stupid; a vacuous remark is one that is empty of intelligence.
3. Devoid of substance or meaning; inane.
4. Devoid of expression; vacant.
vacuously
In a vacuous manner.
vacuousness
1. A total absence of matter.
2. The state of being empty.
