arrhenotoky, arrhenotocy
The parthenogenetic production of male offspring.
atocia, atokia
Sterility of the female; incapable of having babies.
bradytocia, bradytokia
1. Lingering or slow parturition (childbirth).
2. Slow delivery of a fetus.
3. Prolonged labor and slow delivery of a fetus or baby.
deuterotoky, deuterotocy
The parthenogenetic production of both male and female offspring.
distocia, distokia
Birth of a second child.

Fetal causes: Large size of the fetus usually causes this condition. Other factors are malpositions of the fetus (transverse, face, brow, breech, or compound presentation), abnormalities of the fetus (hydrocephalus, tumors of the neck or abdomen, hydrops), and multiple pregnancy (interlocked twins).

Dystocia generally can be detected by vaginal examination, ultrasound, and external pelvimetry before the patient goes into labor.

ditocous, ditokous
1. Producing two young at a birth.
2. Producing young of two kinds; as, some worms.
dystocia, dystokia
Difficult labor, abnormally difficult childbirth.

It may be produced by either the size of the passenger (the fetus) or the small size of the pelvic outlet.

embryotocia, embryotokia
A former term for abortion,
epitoky, epitocy
The production of sexual organs by an apparently asexual form. Particularly the production of such organs in the hinder end of polychaete worms.
eutocia, eutokia
Natural or easy childbirth; normal labor.
mogitocia, mogitokia
An older term for the abnormally slow progress in labor during birth because of ineffective uterine contractions. See dystocia for more details.
monotocous, monotokous
A plant that produces fruit only once in a life time. The plant may be an annual, biennial, or perennial.
oligotocous, oligotokous
1. The production of, or bearing, few young.
2. having only a few offspring per brood
oxytocia, oxytokia
Rapid childbirth.
oxytocic, oxytokic
1. Referring to or characterized by rapid labor or parturition.
2. An agent (drug) that hastens childbirth by stimulating contractions of the myometrium.
