bipeltate
Having a shell, or covering, like a double shield.
pelta (s), peltae (pl)
A small shield, especially one of an approximately elliptic form, or crescent-shaped.
peltast
1. A foot soldier of ancient Greece armed with a light shield and a javelin.
2. A foot soldier or infantryman; derived from the word meaning a small, unrimmed shield.
peltastiform
Shield-shaped or formed like a shield.
peltated
In botany, a shield-shaped; scutiform (shield shape); having the stem or support attached to the lower surface, instead of at the base or margin; referring to a leaf or other organ.

In medicine, protection provided by inoculation with an antiserum or with a vaccine.

Bearing, or carrying, a shield.
Sauropelta
A “small-shield lizard” from Early Cretaceous or Late Cretaceous Montana, USA. Named by U. S. paleontologist John H. Ostrom in 1970.
