-oid, -oidal, -oidism, -odic

(Greek: a suffix; like, resembling, similar to, form)


isophytoid
An individual plant of a compound plant-organism, not differentiated from the rest.
isozooid
A zooid, or individual of a compound or “colonial” animal organism, not differentiated from the rest; opposite of allozooid.
keratoid
leptocephaloid
Resembling or having the shape of eel larvae.
leptoid
One of the living elongated thin-walled cells forming simple conducting tissue in bryophytes; a tubular cell in the stem of certain pteridophytes (ferns).
leukemoid
lipoid
lipoid, lipoidal, lipoidic, lipoidous
1. Fatlike; resembling fat; adipoid.
2. The former name for lipid, et al.
lipomatoid
Resembling a lipoma, frequently said of accumulations of adipose tissue that is not thought to be neoplastic.
lithoid
Like or similar to a stone; resembling a rock.
lithoidolatry
The worship of rock-like formations.
lupoid
A reference to or resembling lupus.
lyssoid
Resembling rabies; rabiform.
mammilloid
masculinoid
Masculine (but not male); of male form or appearance; appearing like a male, or similar, to a male.
