An excessive fear of hospitals.

There are those who fear that they will go into the hospital healthy and then need treatment for an infection contacted while they were there.

1. Hospital melancholia, depression from a prolonged hospital stay.
2. Mental depression observed in patients confined to a hospital for a long time.

1. Pertaining to the acquisition of a disease in a hospital or other health facility; used especially in reference to hospital-acquired infections and diseases.
2. Originating in a hospital; said of an infection not present or incubating prior to a patient’s admittance to the hospital, but generally occurring 72 hours after admittance.

The term usually refers to patient disease, but hospital personnel may also acquire nosocomial infection.
