angi-, angio-, angei-, -angium

(Greek > Latin: [receptacle], vessel, often a blood vessel; "covered by a seed or vessel", a seed vessel; a learned borrowing from Greek meaning "vessel", "container")



spermatangium
A structure that produces spermatia in red algae.
sporangium
A single-celled or many-celled structure in which spores are produced, as in fungi, algae, mosses, and ferns. Also called spore case.
synangium, synangial, synangic
1. A collective or common blood-vessel from which several arteries branch; spec. the terminal part of the arterial trunk in the lower vertebrate.
2. The divided part beyond the pylangium (first and undivided part) in the aortic trunk of the amphibian heart.
telangiectasis, telangiectasia
1. A chronic dilatation of the capillaries and other small blood vessels.
2. Chronic dilation of groups of capillaries causing elevated dark red blotches on the skin.
telangitis
thromboangitis
Inflammation of the inner coat of a blood vessel with clot formation.
zoosporangiophore
A structure bearing zoosporangia (sporangium in which zoospores develop).
zoosporangium (s), zoosporangia (pl)
1. A receptacle containing zoospores.
2. A spore case in which zoospores are produced.
