acetylation
Formation of an acetyl derivative.
acetylcholine
The acetic ester of choline, the neurotransmitter substance at cholinergic synapses, which causes cardiac inhibition.
acetyl group
The univalent group, CH3CO–, derived from acetic acid. Also called acetyl radical.
acetylic
A reference to, or characteristic of the acetyl group.
pyroacetic
Pertaining to, and designating, a substance (acetone) obtained by the distillation of the acetates. It is now also called pyroacetic ether, and formerly was called pyroacetic spirit.
subacetate
An acetate containing an excess of the basic constituent.
