A non-medical person who treats disease by various kinds of movements.
kinesipathy, kinesipath, kinesipathic
1. A disease marked by motor disturbances.
2. The treatment of diseases by means of gymnastics or muscular action; kinesitherapy.
kinesiphony, kinesiophony
1. Sounds made by movements or motions.
2. Certain movements that cause sounds.
kinesitherapy
Physical therapy involving motion and a range of motion exercises. Also: kinesiatrics, kinesiotherapy, kinetotherapy.
kinesomania
A compulsion for movement; an excessive desire to be on the move.
kinesophobia, kinetoptophobia
An excessive fear of movement. Some people who have balance problems or inner-ear disorders may have a greater fear of motion because of their reduced ability to physically adjust to it.
kinestasis
kinesthesia
1. The sense perception of movement; the muscular sense.
2. An illusion of moving in space.
3. The perception of body position, movement, and muscular tensions, etc.
4. The ability to feel movements of the bodily limbs and other parts of the body.
kinesthesiometer
An instrument for testing, or determining, the degree of muscular sensation.
kinesthesis, kineaesthesis
The sense of muscular effort that accompanies a voluntary motion of the body.
kinesthetic
A reference to the sense perception of movement.
kinesthetic hallucination
False sensation of body movement, as with an amputated-phantom limb.
kinesthetic sense
1. The sensation felt in the muscles when they are contracting.
2. The awareness of movement or activity in muscles or joints.
