(Greek: denoting u-shaped [upsilon-shaped]; hyoid bone, literally, "mere" or "simple" y, ypsilon)



hyoepiglottic
Relating to the hyoid bone and the epiglottis; denoting the elastic hyoepiglottic ligament (short elastic band that unites the epiglottis to the upper border of the hyoid bone) connecting the two structures.

1. Referring to, or pertaining to, the hyoglossus muscle. 2. Relating to, or connecting, the tongue and hyodean arch; such as, the hyoglossal membrane.

1. A flat muscle on either side of the tongue, connecting it with the hyoid bone.
2. The muscle that permits the tongue to be held on the floor of the mouth.

Pertaining to the hyoid bone (a U-shaped bone at the base of the tongue that supports the tongue muscles) and the larynx.
